ANALOGY
- Is a comparison based on such similarity
- Consists of
◦ Metaphor
◦ Simile

METAPHOR
◦ Can be define as one thing is on behalf of another idea
◦ Comparison without using like or as

Example of metaphor
The road was a ribbon of moonlight
Time is a thief

SIMILE
◦ Sets two idea side by side
◦ Comparison by using like or as

Example of simile
As easy as ABC
As sweet as chocolate

In the exercise, we were given few pictures and create a passage at least 4 lines of sentence to describe based on the picture.

Emotional Toilet Bowl

Oh, how I wish I could escape this pain
that falls in my head like acid rain;
burning my soul as it scorches my mind.
There isn't a safe-haven that I can find

'cause I'm being flushed down an emotional toilet bowl,
forced into a whirlpool turning agonizingly slow,
drowning in a sea of my own tears,
and running in circles from my anger and fears.

Personal Reflection:
In this activity, I know that not everything is impossible, just do not know whether it really success. But, what I understand is that impossible still can be real, even if it just a thought or imagination.

In the exercise, we were given two groups of word with a number


STEP 1
◦ Suggest 3 lucky numbers which from 00-99

STEP 2
◦ Match 3 pairs of number between 00-99 with words

STEP 3
◦ Create a sentence for each pair of words

STEP 4
◦ Create images to describe or to support the combination of words

Therefore, there are my result for this exercise.

Personal Reflection:
I have learnt how to think creatively from the exercises given by today. Lecturer also plays some jokes to let us gain more knowledge about juxtaposition. In today class, I was so excited and enjoyable because the class activity was fun and interesting.

JUXTAPOSITION
What is juxtaposition?
◦ Is a side-by-side position and often used for comparison.
◦ Two variables that arranged in either similarities or side by side to get contrast or comparison.
◦ There are two types of juxtaposition, literary and random juxtaposition.

(a) Juxtaposition (literary)
It is refer to synonymous with the contrast, two objects or text that against with each other.

(b) Random Juxtaposition
It is refer to solve problems, design or other creative ideas to stimulate the pursuit of the two facing unrelated concepts or objects.

Personal Reflection:
In today lesson, I learned about the definition of juxtaposition. It used a lot combination of ideas to form juxtaposition. Juxtaposition often used side by side to get comparison. For example, party/serve drinks, rain/umbrella, clean/dirty, hot/cold and etc. During the lesson, lecturer also mention that most advertiser often used babies, violence and animals as juxtaposition to attract target audience.

Personal Reflection:
From the beginning of the class, Mr. Radzi Bedu explain on the differences between left-brained and right-brained. Left-brained is more on logical mind while the right-brained is more on to creative. We must develop both sides of brain because no one is totally left-brained or right-brained.

CREATIVE THINKING

◦ Convergent thinking
Convergent thinking is a process of focusing many of information and turns it into a solution.
Example, Solving many problems in a single proper way.

◦ Divergent thinking
Divergent thinking is a process which generate the best idea by exploring many ways.
Example, Use the smartest way to reach a location in a shortest time.

MINDMAP
◦ Invented by Tony Buzan in 1960s.
◦ As a method of creative thinking.

Defining mind mapping
Mind mapping is a diagram which enhance both sides of human brain, often used to generate, visualize , structure ideas. Mind mapping is to stimulate and create interest in the individual and also to audience.

There are TWO types of mind mapping, which are
◦ Logical Mind Map - Every word or image through stereotype links are directly related to the central theme
◦ Associated Mind Map - Can generate random words and the links between the words seem no connection.

STEREOTYPE
A stereotype is a commonly held public belief about specific social groups, or types of individuals. The concepts of "stereotype" and "prejudice" are often confused with many other different meanings.

Personal Reflection:
In this week lecture, I have learn and understand about convergent and divergent thinking which will be useful in the future. Mr.Yap sau Bin also play a role in helping us to understand about the difference between convergent and divergent thinking. Lecturer told us that people normally are either good in convergent or in divergent thinking. In addition, lecturer also explain about how to create a good mind mapping in creative way.
